Resize video online

Cropping a video means cutting out parts of the image to change its size or focus, like trimming the edges of a photo. Resizing a video involves changing its dimensions to make it larger or smaller while keeping the entire picture intact.

Yes. Just upload your clips to the Vimeo app, then choose your video orientation (portrait, landscape, or square). Use the Crop + Fit feature to frame your media by pinching it to resize, or drag it to reposition.

You can change your video's aspect ratio at the top of the editor. Select the Ratio button, and choose between 16:9 (landscape), 9:16 (portrait), or 1:1 (square).

Adjusting the size of a video to fit a different platform (going from bigger to smaller) will reduce the overall pixels but should not noticeably lower its quality when viewed on that platform. Repeatedly compressing a video, however, may affect its quality. 

Currently, Vimeo’s editor supports the following ratios: 16:9 (landscape), which is good for YouTube & LinkedIn; 9:16 (portrait), which is good for Instagram and X; and 1:1 (square). Research your chosen platform’s video aspect ratio and resize accordingly.
